Educated at Highgate, then Kingsbridge Grammar School and Oxford University. He became a schoolmaster and in July 1918, was just finishing a spell as Assistant Master at Wilson's Grammar School, Camberwell, and was due to start as a headmaster of the Foundation School, Whitechapel. While working there he lived at Leytonstone.
About 1926 he gave up teaching and emigrated to Australia and started pineapple farming at Beerwah, Queensland.
1940's returned to teaching.
1950's worked in Indonesia.
Louis married Nora Elizabeth Kathleen Freeman on 1 Sep 1909 in Oxford Registration District. (Nora Elizabeth Kathleen Freeman was born on 11 Oct 1886 in Sandhurst, died on 21 Mar 1949 in Maleny, Queensland, Australia and was buried in Mooloolah Cemetery Caloundra Shire.)
