30 Jul 1696. Apprenticed to John Raymond the elder, citizen and combmaker of London.
Nov 1703 made a Freeman of the City of London by servitude.
1704 combmaker of Guildford. Gilbert Harrison, who was admitted as a Freeman of Guildford in 1722 had served as an apprentice under John.
In the 1720's John lived in the Holy Trinity Parish, Guildford and he witnessed various deeds as a parishioner. In the year 1724/5 he was a churchwarden of Holy Trinity.
John married Susannah West on 3 Oct 1704 in St. Katherine's by the Tower, London. (Susannah West was born in Devizes, Wiltshire and was buried on 27 Dec 1715 in Holy Trinity, Guildford.)
